Planning Storyboard for my Aleve Commercial
1. The first section of my storyboard depicts a boy and a woman. In it, they are in a grassy field and have a picnic blanket. The day is sunny and pleasant and they are enjoying their picnic.
2. In my second section, the boy in the picnic asks the woman if she can go retrieve salt from the house. Even though the section only depicts the boy, the shot it will soon reference will include the woman as well. This shot sets up the conflict of the advertisement: the woman versus her knee pain.
3. The shot shown in the third section is the woman walking off to the house to get the salt. During her walk, she will experience knee pain. In the shot, the boy won't be in it the entire time, like the section hints at. On the contrary, the boy will be out of the shot soon after the woman starts walking. I drew the boy in the section because it provides a guide for me to follow and shows the camera should start on the whole scene and pan the woman's walk.
4. In the fourth section, the woman walks up the stairs and experiences knee pain. The pain is due to arthritis. The shot will stop and focus on the woman and her knee. When it stops, she will bend slightly over and rub her knee. This will effectively show she is in pain and set up the narrative for the next shot.
5. The fifth section shows the woman standing in front of the counter. The two items on the counter are the bottle of Aleve and a bottle of water. The storyboard only shows the woman standing in front of the counter, but the actual shot will show much more. For example, in the advertisement, the camera will follow the woman as she comes inside the house, as she grabs the pill, and swallows the pill.
6. In the sixth section of my storyboard shows the woman walking down the steps with a smile on her face. This is supposed to indicate that she is no longer in pain and she no longer has trouble walking up and down the stairs. The shot in the commercial will follow her some ways as she walks back to the picnic.
I included the sun in all of the storyboard sections except the fifth one to show that all the shots would be outside except for the fifth one.
