Filming My Aleve Commercial
I found the filming process of my commercial to be fun and challenging. The first shot I had to film for my commercial was the picnic shot. In it, the actors in it would walk up to a picnic blanket, sit down, and realize an item was missing. In my storyboard, I included just the boy and woman in the shot. However, during filming, I thought it would be more dynamic and realistic if another person were there as well. To solve this, I included my young cousin in the picnic shot. The picnic scene took a lot of tries to nail.
Originally, I had intended include the characters walking into the first shot. However, after shooting the shot, I discovered it would be too long if we started out of the frame. The main actor in the commercial was my aunt. I would have acted in it, but I thought I would do better as the camera operator and director. The picnic clip was the only one I appeared in.
The next shot was one of the main actor walking up stairs. I had wanted to use steeper stairs but, due to the stairs
being obstructed by plants, I had to film on bigger steps.

The shot inside the house was originally planned to include the actor taking the pill. However, upon further research of medicine and Aleve commercials, I decided it would be better if the actor did not take the pill on camera but heavily implied it.
The final shot took more takes than any other because the short shot of the actor running down the stairs is a very important one. Because the shot shows that the Aleve completely relived the pain, I wanted the mood, volume, movement, and voice to be perfect. Eventually, we got a really good take and I am satisfied with it.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my commercial and the entire filming process was a lot of fun for me to film and act in.
