Music Video


This is my music video.  My partner that I worked together with to complete this project was Nicholas Arnold.  The song we used was "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day.  The project was long, took a lot of planning, and required us to think outside of the box.  I am glad to have worked with Nicholas because he was a great help and our different talents benefited each other well.  For example, I am better at filming and planning the filming while Nicholas is better at editing.  Because of this, I filmed most of it and Nicholas did the editing.  We both helped greatly during both parts of the project.  Also, without the help of my family, we would not have been able to film as good of a music video as we did.

I am very proud of the job we did when it came to the planning.  It took us multiple days to plan out the filming and what scenes we wanted to make.  One would propose ideas and the other one would either approve it or deny it and provide an alternative.  It was a very progressive system.

Overall, I am very happy with the way the music video came out and I wouldn't have done much of anything to change it.

  There are 7 scenes total in the storyboard. The dialogue between the script and storyboard vary because it is not finalized. There are different directions that we could approach with dialogue. We could make it more general and simplistic, but it might feel too on the nose. Camera angles could also be changed in the future.

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

  These are roughly the 12 "parts" of the music video divided into scenes, all about 5 seconds long each. 1. The video will start with the main character coming out of the front door with his dog on a leash next to him. This will be the instrumental first 4 seconds before the lyrics start. 2. The first scene will cut to a wide shot of the street, panning and following the boy and the dog walking. This second scene will begin right when the lyrics start, and the camera will focus to a shadowy figure in the background. 3. This shadowy figure comes from off screen and grabs the leash from their hands, running away with the dog. They cannot stop this from happening as they are in shock at what happened. 4. This scene is just a zoom in of the main character who mouths "NOOOO" into the sky. At this point the shadowy figure has run off, and it has left him in great despair. 5. The scene fades to a black and white flashback of the dog, doing normal activities such as w...

Production: Scouting the Film Site

 So far, no filming has taken place.  Neither has any editing.  However, we have been preparing for filming.  One of the hardest things we have had to do for this project was find a good location.  Originally, we wanted an abandoned building.  But, no buildings that look remotely abandoned can be found around where we live because of the population density.  So, we had to switch the setting of the story.  We chose to make the new setting a forest, because that is much more general and easier to find.  Or so we thought.  It turned out that finding a forest in a densely populated area was almost just as hard.  We visited multiple parks and found locations that could work for filming.  However, the best places were too far away for all of us to meet at.  Luckily, we found a park between our houses that had enough trees to look remotely like a forest.   The park has a lot of locations that we can use to film.  O...
