Production: Finalizing Scene Plans
Spring break has just finished for our class and school is starting again after a week break. Even though there was no school, my partner and I still put work in to our project. However, we could not start the filming. Both my partner and I wanted to start filming. Unfortunately, we couldn't film. During spring break, my partner, Nicholas, went on a trip with his family and was out of town. Similarly, our friends who are helping us act were also out of town for a few days. On the bright side, this gave us more time to iron out all the details. The extra planning we have done will definitely improve our final product. Since Nicholas was out of town, we called each other to discuss the filming process. Specifically, we discussed how we would the more difficult scenes. The first scene in our intro will be rather complicated. In it, we will film a close up of a ringing phone and slowly zoom out while tracking someone's hand as they pick up the phone and answer it. The camera work for the scene will take multiple tries but should not be too difficult. The hard part of the scene is perfecting the phone call. We will film both of ourselves talking on the phone to each other, which is simple. The most complicated part is getting the audio to sound coordinated and like a natural conversation. To do this, we will be using our computer to talk to each other, our phones to record the conversation, and our relatives phones as props. The phone call audio on the computer will be of us talking like a normal phone call and we will record it and isolate the audio. Then, we will put the audio into the final project by editing it in. Also, we discussed the filming of the scene where the victim dies. We pondered many ideas but we decided that the using quick cuts with dark lighting would be a great way to set the audiences mood. We also thought it would be a good idea to cut the scene off abruptly with an ambiguous ending. This would set the mysterious mood better.
