Blog About My Group

 For the short film I will be making this year it is possible to work in a group.  Last year, I could also work in a group for my film intro.  Last year, I chose to work with someone.  Specifically, just one person, not an entire group.  Last year, I worked with Nicholas Arnold.  Nicholas has been a friend for years and I happened to be taking Media Studies with him last year, so the pairing worked out great.  It was improved by Nicholas's preference to edit and my preference to write/edit.  This year, Nicholas is in my Media Studies Class again.  So, I plan to work with him again.  

For my movie intro I made, it needed more actors than just me or my family.  So, Nicholas and I asked for some help from friends that had taken Media Studies before themselves.  Among them was Kyle Weiner.  Kyle took Media Studies AS level before we had, so we couldn't work with him but, when working with him on our film intro, he seemed very knowledgeable about the process and provided valuable insight from his own experience.  This year, Kyle decided to take AICE Media Studies A level with us.  SO, naturally, the three of us have decided to work together.  

Last year, I feel that Nicholas and I made a great team.  I am very proud of the work we completed and I enjoyed working with him.  Now that Kyle is joining our group, I think our film will be even better than last year.  One reason is because we have more minds to come up with ideas and solutions to problems.  The other reason is because we have more experience with making films.

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

  These are roughly the 12 "parts" of the music video divided into scenes, all about 5 seconds long each. 1. The video will start with the main character coming out of the front door with his dog on a leash next to him. This will be the instrumental first 4 seconds before the lyrics start. 2. The first scene will cut to a wide shot of the street, panning and following the boy and the dog walking. This second scene will begin right when the lyrics start, and the camera will focus to a shadowy figure in the background. 3. Production: Finalizing Scene Plans

 Spring break has just finished for our class and school is starting again after a week break.  Even though there was no school, my partner and I still put work in to our project.  However, we could not start the filming.  Both my partner and I wanted to start filming.  Unfortunately, we couldn't film.  During spring break, my partner, Nicholas, went on a trip with his family and was out of town.  Similarly, our friends who are helping us act were also out of town for a few days.  On the bright side, this gave us more time to iron out all the details.  The extra planning we have done will definitely improve our final product.  Since Nicholas was out of town, we called each other to discuss the filming process.  Specifically, we discussed how we would the more difficult scenes.  The first scene in our intro will be rather complicated.  In it, we will film a close up of a ringing phone and slowly zoom out while tracking some...

Planning: Storyboard

  There are 7 scenes total in the storyboard. The dialogue between the script and storyboard vary because it is not finalized. There are different directions that we could approach with dialogue. We could make it more general and simplistic, but it might feel too on the nose. Camera angles could also be changed in the future.
