AICE Media Studies

 A group of friends explore a creepy forest and mysteriously die one after another . This is our group's pitch for our film.  This pitch may sound similar to the pitch of Nicholas and I's Media Studies AS level film introduction.  That is because it is.  We really enjoyed the idea we had for our last project and want to expand on it.  Kyle, our third group member was also involved in our film introduction from AS Level.  He was an actor in the film.  In fact, he was the actor with the most screen time.  The short film will have the genres of mystery and horror.  We plan for the tone to be serious.  Hopefully, even scary.  There are many ways we have thought of makin g -he idea from our AS Level project more in depth.  We do not plan to use footage from the last project.  Instead, we will simply use the idea as inspiration and make something new from it.  Perhaps we will make one of the students in the group the culpri...

 For the short film I will be making this year it is possible to work in a group.  Last year, I could also work in a group for my film intro.  Last year, I chose to work with someone.  Specifically, just one person, not an entire group.  Last year, I worked with Nicholas Arnold.  Nicholas has been a friend for years and I happened to be taking Media Studies with him last year, so the pairing worked out great.  It was improved by Nicholas's preference to edit and my preference to write/edit.  This year, Nicholas is in my Media Studies Class again.  So, I plan to work with him again.   For my movie intro I made, it needed more actors than just me or my family.  So, Nicholas and I asked for some help from friends that had taken Media Studies before themselves.  Among them was Kyle Weiner.  Kyle took Media Studies AS level before we had, so we couldn't work with him but, when working with him on our film intro, he seemed ...

 My name is Grant Cipollone.  The school I attend is Fort. Lauderdale High School in Fort Lauderdale Florida.  Last year, I took AICE Media Studies AS level.  I enjoyed it very much.  I liked filming with my friends and family and learning about the process.  Because I liked it so much, I chose to take AICE Media Studies A level.  I am interested in doing a more in-depth film project this year.  This year, unlike last year, I will be able to work with more of my friends that chose to take A level media.  Since I love watching movies, learning about film production in AICE Media Studies is very interesting to me.  I have found it fun to learn about the different camera angles and editing practices so far.  I am excited for the creation of the movie since there is a lot of freedom for creativity.  Finally, the project is finished.  Last blog, I talked about the filming process.  Now that we have all the content we need, we were finally able to put it together.  The editing process was harder and longer than anticipated.  We had to be very thorough to make it the way we wanted.  First, we started off by putting all the clips and scenes we had filmed together in a google drive folder.  The folder ended up with about 50 clips!  We didn't include all of these clips in the final project, but we thought it would be a good idea to shoot extra takes incase some of them did not come out as good as we hoped.  Giving us more to work with proved beneficial.  The one who did the actual editing was my partner, Nicholas.  I watched him do it and helped give him ideas for it.  The initial draft came out to much more than two minutes.  But, with enough work, we were able to compress it to 2 minutes in a way that made sense.  I...

 Today, my partner and I as well as our actors went to the park to film the project.  There was a lot we needed to film and, therefore, a lot to talk about.  The biggest dilemma we faced was that we wanted to film some of our scenes during the daylight and some of our scenes as the sun set.  So, in order to include everything, we all got there early at around 3:15.  First, Nicholas and drove around the park and reaffirmed our plans and shooting locations.  Then, after that, our actors came and we put up the tent we would.  At the last minute, I decided to bring a couple lawn chairs to make the campsite have more features.  After the campsite was set up, we started filming.  The first parts we filmed were the establishing shots of the car driving.  The shots were mostly still shots or pans that followed the car as it drove in front of a bland, rural-looking background.  We hoped the background would give away how secluded the forest ...
