Editing my Aleve Commercial

After the filming, I had to edit all the shots together.  Their were many problems I encountered during editing.  Each one was a learning experience for me.  Luckily, through hard work, I was able to overcome the hardships.

One problem I had when it came to editing my my complete lack of experience.  Before I even thought of a product to advertise, I knew the editing part of the project would be a dilemma since I had no idea how to do it.  This was the biggest problem out of all of them.  However, I was able to overcome it with the help of my teacher and my peers.  My teacher provided a free-to-use and easy-to-use editing software and my classmate helped walk me through dumping and extracting process.  With their help, I was able to effectively compile my commercial's shots into one coherent advertisement with music.  I now confident in my ability to edit in the future.

Another problem I encountered during the post-filming process was the lack of music in my commercial.  Music is extremely important in any commercial.  Only rarely will a commercial not have any music.  If they don't, it is most likely for a very specific reason.  The type of music in medicine commercials is usually less serious and more uplifting.  This is in order to get people to associate uplifting feelings with their product.  In my case, I knew how important it would be to include peaceful music that went well with the setting of the picnic and that made viewers associate positive feeling with my commercial.  When it came to finding music, I listened to samples of many songs before I finally decided on the song I went with.  I feel that the song I chose fits well with the theme and feel of my commercial.

During editing, I also had to deal with the presence of too much content.  During filming, I had filmed shots of different things, and many of the shots I had to take multiple times.  Because of this, the clips I had to use in my editing software were too numerous.  Because I had too many clips, I made it confusing for myself to put the clips in their right places and order.  In the end, I had to end up deleting a lot of the clips I had taken.  At first, I was hesitant to delete the footage for fear I would need it later in the process and the clips I delete would be the wrong ones.  Fortunately, I made no mistakes while deleting them and was able to keep plenty of clips to make my commercial as long as it needed it to be.

Now that I have finished editing, I look forward to editing projects in the future and feel confident in my ability to do so.
